Conrad Chavez
Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services
Wyoming, 1997
Conrad is in his fourth year with the UW Athletics Department, and is in his third year in the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services. Prior to joining the Athletics Department, he spent four years in the Office of the Registrar office on the UW campus as a credentials analyst/academic advisor. Before that, he spent one year as the supervisor of the Wyoming Union Recreation Center. Originally from Durango, CO., Chavez earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Wyoming. In his role as Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services, he oversees the day-to-day operation of three- full time staff members as well as academic services for football. The Office of Academic Support is involved in certification of incoming student-athletes, assisting with registration of incoming student-athletes, monitoring of their academic progress and assisting in advising and tutoring of student-athletes. Chavez enjoys camping, fishing, and umpiring baseball. He and his wife, Jen, have one daughter, Jessica, and one son, Brandon.

Gwen Cotterman
Academic Coordinator
Gwen Cotterman is in her second year in with the UW Office of Academic Support after joining them in the Fall of 2005. Prior to that, she worked as a Coordinator in the Academic Assistance program at Drake University from 2001-2005 before adding the CHAMPS/LifeSkills position in 2003. From 2000-01, Cotterman was an assistant coach with the women's cross country and track and field teams at Drake. She earned her bachelor of science degree in sport administration from Pepperdine (Malibu, Calif.) in 1996 where she was a four-year member of the varsity cross country team. Following that, she went on to earn her master's in education with an emphasis in sport administration from Bowling Green State University in 1999. During that time, she worked as a graduate assistant in the school of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies (1997-99) and as a practicum student in the athletics department (1998-99), along with volunteering with the women's cross country team. A native of California, her responsibilities include academic assistance to student-athletes of various sports, connect students to academic resources on campus, monitor fifth year recipient responsibilities along with the day to day operation of the Office of Academic Support.

Katie Ludwin
Academic Coordinator/LifeSkills Project Coordinator,
Puget Sound, 2002
Katie Ludwin joined the UW Office of Academic Support in July of 2007. Prior to that, she worked in Academic Support and Advising at the University of Northern Colorado for two years as an Academic Advisor. During that time, she also worked as a graduate intern and program coordinator for the Off-Campus Student Service at Colorado State University. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Puget Sound in 2002 where she was a four-year letterwinner in soccer. Recently, Ludwin earned her master's in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Northern Colorado in December of 2006. Her main responsibilities will include the academic coordination of various sports and assistance with CHAMPS/Life Skills Program and the day-to-day operation of the Office of Academic Support.

Henrietta Shingleton
Academic Coordinator
Shingleton joined Wyoming's Athletics Department as a Mentor in January 1996, progressed to Graduate Assistant and then to her current full time position as Academic Coordinator. She previously team-taught a freshman communications class, which is similar to a University Studies course she previously designed and taught to freshmen. She also spearheads a UW campus "Cowboy Academic Partnership" program, focusing on tutoring and meeting students' academic special needs and individual learning styles. She holds additional credit hours with emphasis on special education and theories of coaching. After one year at a community college in Kansas, she dropped out to marry her high school sweetheart who was in the Air Force. Following years of film theater management, legal office management, and clerical service on campus, she went back to school at UW. Shingleton holds two B.S. degrees from the University of Wyoming (Business Education, 1991; Physical Education/Sports Marketing, 1992). As a student, she worked in the UW Athletics Department as a Work Study (Sports Information and Athletics Administration) and completed a one-year internship with Athletics Marketing and Promotions. She is a member of the NFL-NFF, UW Cowboy Joe Club, and serves on the Laramie Quarterback Club Board. With her husband, Dennis, a native of Laramie, she raised seven children, a daughter, three sons, two nieces, and a nephew.
