LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Department continues to invest in upgrades and improvements to their facilities during the summer of 2006. The projects are part of UW's overall Strategic Plan to strengthen competitiveness as a member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC).

Following are photo gallery/press release links that will be periodically updated as improvements progress this summer, as well as facility archives from the past two years at the bottom of the page:

Projects planned to be completed or to begin during the summer of '06 include:

New offices for the Track and Field program in the Fieldhouse.

Construction of a new synthetic surface outdoor track. The bid was awarded to ATG Construction with completion scheduled for August 1st.

Renovation of restrooms and concession stands on the upper levels of War Memorial Stadium to be completed this summer.

Complete remodeling of the Cowboy Wrestling Practice Room to be completed this summer.

An artists' rendering of the proposed Indoor Football Practice Facility, to be located east of the Rochelle Athletics Center.

Construction of an Indoor Football Practice Facility. The bid has been awarded to Delta Construction/Hall Irwin Construction and design is underway. The goal is to begin construction late this summer with completion by late next spring.

Replacement of the Arena Auditorium basketball court. A request for proposals is out with bids due June 8th. The goal is for construction to begin mid July and be completed by first week in October.

Resurfacing of the outdoor tennis courts. The design is underway and the goal is for completion this summer in time for fall.

Overall aesthetic changes, including landscaping and painting.

Other pending, future projects include construction of an indoor tennis facility and further improvements to War Memorial Stadium: Renovation of the lower East/West concourses, renovation of the Press Box, construction of VIP seating/suites, and paving of the East Stadium lot.
