Cowboy Swimming Signs Three Athletes to National Letters of Intent

University of Wyoming swimming and diving coach Tom Johnson announced on Wednesday the signing of three student athletes to national letters of intent. Marshall Dilworth, Brett Henehan and Kyle Wemhoff will all enroll at UW for the fall semester of 2008 and join the Cowboy swimming team.

"This is a great group of guys and I am very excited about what they will add to our team," said Johnson.

Wyoming Diving Ends 2007-08 Season at NCAA Zone "E" Championships

The Wyoming diving team closed out the 2007-08 swimming and diving season on Saturday as they competed in platform diving at the NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla.

On the men's side of the meet, freshman Mark Murdock led the way for the Cowboys. Murdock dove to a 14th place score of 469.65.

Wyoming Diving Competes in Springboard at NCAA Zone E Diving Championships

On Thursday and Friday in Oklahoma City, the Wyoming diving team competed in both springboard diving events to open the 2008 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships. The women dove one-meter on Thursday and three-meter on Friday while the men did the opposite at the Oklahoma City Community College.

Beginning this Thursday, the University of Wyoming diving team will compete in the 2008 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla. The meet, which will be held at the Oklahoma City Community College, will serve as a qualifier for the 2008 NCAA Men's and Women's Championships and will run from Thursday through Saturday.

Twenty UW Swimmers and Divers Receive All-Mountain West Conference Accolades

Following the most successful run in school history at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, 20 Wyoming athletes were recently selected to the All-MWC team.

Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls scored the most team points in school history and matched their highest finishes in the standings. Over the four day meet, Wyoming won four individual conference championships, broke 15 school records and had 45 performances that rank in the top-five of UW's all-time record book.

Matt Urich won the Mountain West Conference 100 butterfly Championship and the Cowboys remain in second place as the Wyoming swimming and diving team continued its historic run at the 2008 MWC Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla. On the day, the UW swimming and diving program broke five school records and swam six NCAA provisional qualifying times.

The Cowboys trail only UNLV who has scored 575 team points.

Kyle Bogner Wins MWC One-Meter Diving Championship

Freshman Kyle Bogner became a Mountain West Conference one-meter diving champion on Thursday night of the 2008 MWC Championships and both the Cowboys and Cowgirls are in second place following the second day of competition. On the day, UW broke three school records at the Oklahoma City Community College.

The Cowboys closed out the night in second place with 270 team points.

Led by some magnificent diving, the Wyoming swimming and diving team is currently in first place and the Cowgirls are in second after the opening day of the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla.

"This was a good first night and is a step in the right direction," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "The divers lead the way today and did some great things. They are so important to this team and that was very evident today."

Following their final weekend of dual action, the Wyoming swimming and diving team swept all four Mountain West Conference athlete of the week honors on Wednesday. Eli Bell and Kyle Bogner were named the MWC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, while Maggie Bach and Stephanie Ortiz were named the Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week. This was the first weekly honor for all four UW athletes.

The Wyoming swimming and diving team completed a weekend sweep of their Front Range rivals on Saturday by beating Air Force at Corbett Pool. With their two wins today, as well as the Cowgirls win over Colorado State on Friday, both the Cowboys and Cowgirls secure a third place finish in the final Mountain West Conference dual standings. The Cowgirls finish with a record of 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the MWC while the Cowboys finish 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

To call Friday night a banner night for the University of Wyoming swimming and diving program would be an understatement. The Cowgirls not only beat their arch-rival Colorado State 187-113, they didn't just break four Corbett Pool records but UW head coach Tom Johnson also notched the 100th victory of his career, all on one Friday night in Laramie, Wyo.

Wyoming Swimming and Diving to Close out Regular Season at Home against Two Rivals

This weekend, the Wyoming swimming and diving team will host two Front Range rivals in their final regular season dual meets before the Mountain West Conference Championships. The Cowgirls will host the Border War against Colorado State on Friday at 5 p.m. and both teams will dual with Air Force at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Diving will begin on Friday at 4 p.m. and at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

In addition to hosting two rivals, this weekend will also be a memorable one for six Wyoming seniors who will compete for the final time in Corbett Pool. Prior to Saturday's dual, Angela DeWolf, Rachel Leyes, Brittany Wainwright, Levi Bell, Sam King, and Will McCallum will be honored.
