At Wyoming: Freshman- Holmes competed in every freestyle event with the exception of the mile during the season. His versatility added a great amount of depth to the Cowboy lineup. He excelled academically and was an Academic All-Conference selection. High School: As a senior at Kearney High School, Holmes was the Nebraska runner-up in the 100 freestyle and placed third in the 200 freestyle at state. He finished just behind fellow UW swimmer Tommy Gregory in the 100. He was a team captain as both a junior and senior. He lettered in swimming all four years and in tennis as a freshman and sophomore. He was a great student and was on the honor roll all four years of high school. Personal: He was born on March 24, 1988 in Pocahontas, Idaho. He is the son of Marcie and Doug and has three siblings, William, Andrew and Elizabeth. He is majoring in chemistry. Top Times at UW: 50 free-21.89; 100 free-47.82, 200 free-1:43.30; 200 IM-2:00.45. |
