At Wyoming: Freshman- As a true freshman, Ortiz was a huge contributor to the Cowgirl diving program. Her season was highlighted by a pair of First Team All-MWC honors. She earned all-conference honors after placing sixth in the one-meter event and seventh in the platform. She also qualified for the 2007 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships. At the zone meet, she placed 15th in the platform, 25th in one-meter and 27th in three-meter. At the 2006 Texas Invite, she dove to the third highest platform score in school history of 200.15. She earned her first letter award. High School: Ortiz was a Colorado Springs Gazette Diver of the Year and a Colorado 4A State Champion her senior year. She was a letterwinner and team captain in both diving and gymnastics. Personal: She was born on December 3, 1987 in Colorado Springs. She is the daughter of Elaine and Kirby and has an older sister, Christina. She is majoring in nursing. Top Marks at UW: one-meter (6 dives)-271.50; three-meter (6 dives)-270.60; platform (5 dives)-200.15. |
