UW This Season: Chris Johnson returns as one of the Cowboys' leading receivers in 2008. Johnson made significant contributions late in the 2007 season, after transferring from Solano Community College in California. He should be a threat as both a receiver and a rusher in Wyoming's new fly-sweep series. Johnson may also be utilized as a kickoff returner his senior season.

2007: Johnson came on strong in the last half of the 2007 season. Of his 12 receptions last season, seven came in the final four games. He also became much more involved in the rushing attack from his wide-receiving position, carrying the ball nine times for 50 yards in the final five games. For the year, he caught 12 passes for 132 yards, had a total of 10 rushing attempts for 59 yards and returned one kickoff for 12 yards.

Junior College: At Solano Community College in California, he was voted First Team All-Bay Valley Conference as an All-Purpose performer. He ranked No. 7 among all California junior-college players in average yards per reception, averaging 21.3 yards per catch. Johnson also ranked 19th in the state of California in all-purpose yards, with 1,197 total all-purpose yards. His 1,197 all-purpose yards consisted of 554 receiving yards, 414 yards in kickoff returns, 181 rushing yards and 48 yards in punt returns. Johnson averaged 25.88 yards in kickoff returns per game to rank No. 23 among California junior college players. He totalled 26 receptions for 554 yards and four receiving touchdowns. He returned 16 kickoffs for 414 yards and two additional TDs. Johnson was part of a Solano offense that averaged 384.7 yards of total offense per game to rank 15th among all California community colleges. The Solano offense also averaged 236.2 yards passing per game to rank No. 14 in the state of California. Solano posted a 5-5 overall record and a 3-2 conference mark to place third in the Bay Valley Conference. Johnson played for head coach Floyd Burnsed at Solano Community College. Johnson was also recruited by Colorado, Nevada, Utah State and Wisconsin.

High School: Johnson played his high school football at H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Fla. for head coach Robert Weiner.

Personal: He is the son of Michelle Johnson and Ron Bush. He is majoring in kinesiology and health promotion.
