2007-08 (Freshman): Henzlik walked onto the Cowboy team this fall and promptly played well enough to represent Wyoming at four of seven tournaments. Described by his coach as coachable and reliable, Phil could be a solid collegaite golfer at UW. His work ethic and consistency make him a valuable contributor to the Cowboy squad. Henzlik's low round of the fall was even-par 72, which he shot at the Purple & Red Invite, as well as the Turtle Bay Invite in Hawaii. At the Hawaii event he factored into the third-best team event total in UW history, 859 (-5). Phil posted his best event finish, and first career top-25 finish, in just his second event of the fall when he concluded the Purple & Red Invite in 22nd place of 104 collegiate golfers.
High School: Henzlik was the South Dakota Class AA Individual State Champion as a senior in 2006. He was named All-State twice, All-Conference for three years and was the captain of his high school golf squad as both a junior and senior. Phil was also a high school tennis player, winning a state doubles title as a senior and helping his team win the S.D. state title as both a junior and senior. He was named All-State in tennis after his senior year and was his team's captain. Henzlik earned nine high school letters, five in golf (including eighth grade) and four in tennis. He was a National Honor Society caliber student and received All-State Scholar Athlete honors.
Personal: Phil was born Feb. 7, 1989, in Fort Collins, Colo. He is one of two children of Dean and Tamara Henzlik. His older sister, Mikala is a junior on the Cowgirl team. Phil's father Dean played for the Cowboy Golf team from 1972-76. Henzlik is a pre-pharmacy major.
