2007-08 (Sophomore): Brandon McCoy is right in the mix for playing time on a young Cowboy squad and he competed in two tournaments this past fall for UW. He is capable of scoring low and has shown flashes of that potential during his first two seasons on the Wyoming team. He works hard in the weight room during the off-season and will need to continue to commit to his training in order to improve. Brandon had a rough fall, but his best score came in the second round at the Air Force Falcon Invitational when he shot 74.
2006-07 (Freshman): McCoy was asked to immediately contribute in his first year playing collegiate golf and he gave the Cowboys some good rounds while traveling to nine of 13 tournaments. He struggled at times with the tough transition from high school to college golf, but improved his scores as the season progressed and benefited from the experience of playing often as a freshman. Brandon's low round of the season was a one-under par 71 in the final round of the BYU Cougar Classic. That event was also where he had his best finish of the year, 53rd in a field of 100.
High School: McCoy graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. in May of 2006. He placed ninth at the Colorado 5A High School State Tournament as a senior and had two individual event victories during the season. A four-year golf letterwinner, he was named to the Metro League First Team as both a junior and senior and was his team's captain and MVP both years. McCoy also lettered in swimming two years for the Marauders, was an honors student and active in community service. His golf coach in high school was John Laxson.
Personal: McCoy was born Nov. 26, 1987 in Colorado Springs. Brandon is the oldest of three children of Earl and Audrey McCoy. He has a younger sister named Emily and a younger brother named Graham. Brandon is studying criminal justice at UW.
