2007-08 (Sophomore): After gaining experience in his first year, Casey Ruff will use his redshirt season to work on various aspects of his game. He is described by his coach as a silky smooth golfer with inner confidence and a great representative for the Cowboy Golf program.
2006-07 (Freshman): Ruff made the huge jump from Wyoming high school golf to NCAA Division I competition and competed in 11 of 13 events during the year for Wyoming as a true freshman. He experienced some up and down play, but showed that he can be successful at the college level for UW. Casey's low scorecard of the season was an even-par round of 72 at the Purple & Red Invitational, where he also had his best finish, 50th. His best 54-hole total was 221 (+8) at the District VII Fall Preview. Casey also played two rounds at the Division I Independent Championship in Windsor, Colo. Ruff did a good job in the classroom and earned Academic All-MWC and MWC Scholar-Athlete honors.
High School: Casey was the 2005 Wyoming 3A state golf champion from Buffalo High School. In addition to his state title as a senior, Ruff was state runner-up as a junior and a three-time All-Conference and All-State selection. He led his high school team to the state title as a senior and the runner-up position his junior year. Casey finished second at the Wyoming State Junior Championship in 2006. A multi-sport athlete, Ruff lettered four years in golf, three years in basketball and started on the Wyoming 3A state basketball championship team his senior year. An excellent student who ranked number one in his class, he earned multiple academic honors.
Personal: Casey is the youngest of three children of Dave and Carol Ruff. His brother's name is Jason and his sister's name is Jennifer. Dave played golf at Hiram Scott College and Jason wrestled collegiately at University of Mary. Casey was born Jan. 16, 1988 in Torrington, Wyo. He is undeclared on a major within the College of Business at UW.
