UW Wrestling Coach Steven Suder Announces Signing of Wyoming Native

April 10, 2008

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

UW head wrestling coach Steven Suder announced Thursday the signing of Laramie's own Michael Poulos to attend the University of Wyoming and compete with the wrestling team for the 2008-09 season. Poulos will graduate from Laramie Senior High School this spring.

"It's really gratifying to attract such a "class act" as Michael to our team," Suder said. "I really believe that he is going to fit in well with the kind of guys we have on our team."

Poulos is a four-time letter winner in wrestling and won the Wyoming State and Conference championships his senior year at 189 pounds. He also won the conference championship his junior season and tallied 107 wins in his four-year career at LHS. Poulos was a three-time letter winner in football including being named to the all-state and all-conference first teams his senior season.

Poulos also excelled in the classroom by carrying a 4.0 GPA and he will graduate number one in his class this spring. He will receive the Presidential Scholarship to UW and he is a member of the National Honor Society.

"Wyoming will be a good fit for me," Poulos said." I already live here and I really like the coaching staff and the facilities."

"Michael brings the character, work ethic and hunger that we are looking for and adds some much needed depth to our upper weights," Suder added.
