Wyoming's Leonhardt Named to NWCA All-Academic Team

Aug. 5, 2004

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming wrestler Bryce Leonhardt has been named to the 2004 National Wrestling Coaching Association All-Academic Team. The NWCA, established in 1928, is a professional organization dedicated to serve and provide leadership for the advancement of all levels of the sport of wrestling with primary emphasis on scholastic and collegiate programs.

Leonhardt, a junior from Casper, Wyo., won 20 matches for the Cowboys this season while maintaining a 3.9 grade point average in secondary education. On the mat, he lost just three matches on the season and tied for the team lead in major decision victories with five. He also earned the team's "High Point" award for the season.

"This recognition is very gratifying to our program as coaches and to Bryce's teammates as well," said UW head wrestling coach Steven Suder. "It is so indicative of his approach to the things that are important. It's an honor that not only reflects his hard work, but also the efforts of coaches, academic counselors, administration and the entire athletics department."
