2007-08 (Sophomore): Jonelle continues to improve in her second season and has proven that she can be a consistently good player at Wyoming for quite some time. Martinez had the third best stroke average on the Cowgirl team this past fall, 79.93. Jonelle has shown the maturity, toughness and confidence of an upperclassman and was instrumental the team's school record marks for single round and event total. She shot 76-75-76 at the MDA Invitational and finished sixth in a field of 84, her second career top-ten finish and third in the top-25. Martinez played in all five fall events.

2006-07 (Freshman): Martinez contributed immediately as a true freshman and had the second best stroke average on the Cowgirl team, 81.14. She adjusted to the collegiate golf game quickly, had two top-25 finishes and played 11 of 12 events for UW. Jonelle shot a 74 in the first round of the Notre Dame Lady Irish Invitational and finished 19th in a field of 73. Her best finish came at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic where she placed eighth.

High School: Martinez broke her foot her senior year at St. Michael's High School, but recovered in time to claim top medalist honors at the New Mexico State High School Championship with a come from behind victory. Jonelle was runner-up at the state golf tournament as a junior, placed third as a sophomore and sixth as a freshman. She was a five-year letterwinner in golf and a three-year letterwinner in volleyball. Her team won the state golf championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Martinez was active on the Sun Country Junior Tour, the New Mexico and West Texas state golf association junior circuit. She was the Sun Country Overall Young Female Player of the Year in 2004, as well as their Junior Tour Player of the Year and Pepsi Tour Player of the Year. In 2005 she was a member of the Sun Country America's Cup Team, which competed in Mexico, and was named the Northern New Mexico Female Golfer of the Year. Martinez was named All-District four times in golf and twice in volleyball. Her high school golf coach was her mother, Robin. She was also recruited by Western New Mexico.

Personal: Jonelle is the daughter of David and Robin Martinez and has an older brother Marcus and a younger sister Miquela. Her father played baseball for the New Mexico Lobos. She was born Sept. 24, 1987. Martinez is majoring in kinesiology & health promotion at UW.
