This Season: One of two seniors on the team, a returning starter and team captain. Has really improved her game over the last couple of years. She will be a main contributor in the Cowgirl line-up. Look for her to move up in to the Cowgirl record book as she is currently in 11th overall with 37 singles wins. Played exceptional tennis during the fall by finishing with an 8-2 record overall which included a 5-1 mark over the last six matches. In doubles play, she went 1-7 overall with two different partners.
Junior (2006-07): Brown rebounded towards the end of the fall schedule, winning three of her last five matches on her way to a 4-7 singles record. She went 2-2 while playing in the qualifying rounds of the Central Regional Tournament. Finished with a 5-4 doubles mark playing with Amy Senko. During the spring, she went 5-13 overall in dual play to end up with a 9-20 overall record. She went 2-6 in Mountain West Conference play with victories over Meghan Kiser (Air Force) and Anette Pohjalainen (Colorado State). In doubles play, she went 10-16 overall playing with three different partners. Brown earned Academic All-MWC honors for the second year in a row.
Sophomore (2005-06): Continued to improve in her second full season in the program. Brown posted a 4-4 mark in the fall, winning her first three matches. She also went 1-1 in doubles action with partner Gwen Moser in the fall. Started off strong in the spring winning her first four matches on the way to a 6-8 record and completed the year going 10-12 overall mainly at the number six spot. She also played well in doubles action, posting a mark of 7-15 playing with three different partners. She earned Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career.
Freshman (2004-05): In her first fall season, Brown was able to put together a 4-6 singles record, while in doubles play she posted a 2-7 mark. Recorded her first Division I victory over Jane McDonald of Air Force (9/24/04). Had a strong showing in the spring as she finished with a record of 6-3, including winning her last five of six matches. Went 10-9 in singles play and 2-7 in doubles to complete the year.
High School: An Atlantic Canada Regional Junior Champion in Girls 16 and Under while attending John Rennie High School in Montreal. During that time, she was also a two-time New Brunswick Provincial Junior Champion and the Women's Champion last year. Over those two years, she was ranked first in the New Brunswick Province, second in the Atlantic Canada Regional and among the Top 50 junior players nationally. Brown has qualified and participated in four national championships and trained at the AMG Academy in Montreal. Besides tennis, she also participated in basketball and volleyball. She chose Wyoming over several schools.
Personal: Michelle is the daughter of Dana and Rita Brown. Born August 22, 1986 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Has two brothers, Geoffrey and Kevin. Majoring in business administration with a minor in finance.
